I AM BACK! Hooray! Wow, I do apologize for my long time away. My computer crashed shortly after July 30th and ever since I have been making every effort to somehow figure out how to update my website. I got a different computer, got 2 different programs, nothing worked. Finally here I am today, on a different computer (thank you, citicards) using good ole Frontpage. Damn, this is a great program. Well, holy pickles, I have got a lot of catching you guys up to do!
I guess the main thing on my mind is one particular weekend. The weekend my brother’s movie premiered in Omaha! (www.bertthemovie.com) It was great to be in Omaha. The night before the movie premiered, me and my buddies performed a nostalgic rendition of Taco Man. I knew I wanted a recording of it, at least audio, to put on my next cd, so we recorded it. I was the Taco Man. I had given my wallet to my buddy, Ben. We both forgot about that and he drove it home to Kansas City the next day. The next day was the premiere. It was awesome. It was at the Rose theater in Omaha, NE. There were at least 650 people in attendance. I performed about 15 minutes of stand up before the movie to warm up the crowd. It was a RUSH! That is the most people I have performed for to date. It was awesome. Then we watched the movie on the big screen. I could not be prouder of my big brother. Holy crap. That movie was so impressive, I don’t even know what to say. It was just such a hit. After the movie, he got a standing ovation, so obviously I was not the only one to think it was great. It was just so fun.
The next morning I had to get up at 6am to hop in my car to drive to Kansas City from Omaha, NE , pick up my wallet, and then head over to Columbus, Ohio for a super important audition. I was so nervous for this darn thing that is killed me. I didn’t do as well as I had hoped and I was just sort of dissappointed in myself after my set. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t my best and for that set, it had to be. So I had to drive 7 1/2 hours home that night thinking about it. I got in my car all upset and bummed out and turned on my radio and what song was on? “Don’t give up” by Alicia Keyes and Bono. At first, I thought it was a sign. I was like, “oh, this is nice.” Then I listened to the words: “Don’t give up. No reason to be ashamed. (so far, so good) Don’t give up, you still have us.” What? I shouldn’t give up because I still have Alicia Keyes and Bono? I don’t even KNOW Alicia Keyes OR Bono! So I was sad again.
Oh, well. Now I am very excited because The Gentlemen’s Hour has another show coming up! September 8th at Comedy Sportz in Milwaukee. I think it is going to be a great one. Come on down if you are in the area. I hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for checking back in. I promise to keep this updated as long as my computer keeps working.
